Ayurveda is composed of two Sanskrit words: “Ayu”, meaning life and "Veda" meaning knowledge. Sri Sri College for Ayurvedic Science and Research was started by Sri Sri to both revive this ancient science that provides one with the knowledge of life and to provide a challenging and modern learning ground for students to practice this art. Health is not just the absence of disease but it is the art of being established in the Self, expressing life dynamically with enthusiasm. This is the principle of the college. Providing a platform for higher learning and education in the field of Ayurveda, the college offers a B.A.M.S. (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) professional degree course that extends for a period of four and a half years comprising of three phases. Each phase is of eighteen months duration. In addition to this students also complete a compulsory internship for one year where they learn the practical intricacies of ayurvedic medicine preparation, distribution and prescription.

The college has an experienced faculty, well equipped labs and a very well stocked library of over 2000 titles. Affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and approved by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, the college also has a huge herbal garden with a wide variety of medicinal plants and a state of the art Research and Development Center.
