The word "student" is synonymous with loads of homework, weekly tests, school bags bewitched to seem that they are carrying boulders,
unrelenting teachers and exam pressure. At least, those are the images that the mind conjures for most of us. The Sri Sri School of Performing Arts and Fine Arts envisions exposing students to a whole new definition of education: a way of education that results in the
overall blossoming of the children, bringing their imagination to the limelight, sharpening their awareness and chiselling their talents.

The school was started with the underlying principle that art is a personal expression of various emotions and feelings. Art in any form uplifts our souls, opens our imagination and calms our senses. Be it in the form of classical music where the participants are taught what wonders can be created with just seven musical notes or in the form of Bharatnatyam, a dance form which indicates the union of emotions with music and rhythm.  Both of these could be conducive in providing a stress free environment in which the student's intellect and talents can blossom, at the same time garner an early appreciation of our rich culture and tradition. Acting as catalysts in this process are the Tabla and Harmonium classes which enable the children to improve their concentration levels, develop hand-eye coordination as well as sharpen the mind as both these instruments require physical alertness as also mental conditioning.

Knowing the intensely competitive environment that children are growing up in, a skill development module is also conducted wherein a plethora of facets like reading skills, listening skills, effective study techniques, overcoming exam anxieties, honing communication skills and leadership traits, developing tangible goals and charting out individual paths to achieve them. Recognizing a need for a holistic development of the mind and personality, the skill development workshop takes a step in reiterating that fact. Disciplining of the body and mind results in enhancing life and spirit, which is exactly what the module on Taekwondo, intends to achieve. To add to this the students are also given an outlet to express their innermost emotions, feelings and give a free rein to their creativity through the avenue of drawing, painting and craft. Numbers can be fun and challenging for some and can be nothing short of an irritant for others. Not for the participants of the Vedic Mathematics schedule where they are helped to develop an intuitive approach towards the subject. All the functions of mathematics are dealt with in the easiest method discovered so far. " The school also incorporates a drama schedule that bears testimony to the fact that this world is nothing but an act wherein different emotions, roles and vicissitudes are brought to light. The mentor for this schedule is nothing short of an authority on the subject. Mentors who have gained commendable recognition in their own fields lead all these activities.

The Sri Sri School of Performing Arts and Fine Arts offers a wonderful kaleidoscope of activities that that is aimed at providing a wholesome education, instilling a sense of self esteem in the student, showing what joy art can bring to our lives and at the same time keeping the children firmly rooted to and appreciative of their culture and values. It echoes the fact what every country needs is not just literate people but people with a thirst for knowledge.
